Kansas Whitetail Deer Hunting
King Whitetails offers guided Kansas whitetail deer hunts across 10,000 acres of private ground in units 4, 7, 8, and 14. Our properties range from smaller parcels to tracts of up to 1,200 acres, giving us a variety of terrain and hunting situations to work with throughout the season.
We lease our private hunting ground with 100% exclusivity. Multiple properties across several units allow us to manage hunting pressure, rest individual farms, and use information from our trail cameras and scouting to determine where the best opportunities are developing.
Our goal is simple: give every hunter a genuine opportunity at a mature Kansas whitetail while keeping hunting pressure controlled and putting you in the right situation for the conditions.
Kansas Whitetail Hunts
We offer three ways to hunt Kansas whitetails. Each hunt has its own timing, terrain, and style, so you can choose the experience that fits the way you want to hunt.
Kansas Archery Deer Hunts
Our archery hunt currently runs for 6 full hunting days, Sunday through Friday, with Saturday reserved for arrival and departure. Late October offers pre-rut hunting, while November takes you into the rut through Thanksgiving.
- Most archery shots are 20 to 30 yards, with bait sites positioned 20 to 25 yards from the stand.
- Ladder stands, hang-on stands, box blinds, and brushed-in ground blinds are used depending on the property and deer movement.
- $4,500 per hunter for 2027. (2027 Fully Booked)
- $5,000 per hunter for 2028.
Kansas Rifle Deer Hunts
Our rifle hunt currently provides 5 full hunting days, plus arrival and departure days. Beginning in 2028, the rifle hunt will change to one 7 full day hunt. The hunt takes place in December after the rut, when deer are often focused more heavily on food.
- Rifle shots typically range from 50 to 100 yards, with opportunities out to 200 yards depending on the property and conditions.
- We recommend a .30-caliber rifle that you shoot confidently, with a 3x9 scope or larger.
- $4,500 per hunter for 2027.
- $6,500 per hunter for 2028.
Kansas Muzzleloader & Dove Combo Hunts
Our muzzleloader hunt currently runs for 5 days in mid-September. Morning dove hunting is combined with afternoon and evening deer hunting.
- The typical deer shot is 50 to 100 yards, with longer opportunities possible depending on the property.
- Dove hunting takes place in the morning, followed by deer hunting in the afternoon and evening.
- $5,000 per hunter for 2027.
- $5,000 per hunter for 2028.

10,000 Acres Across Kansas Deer Units 4, 7, 8, and 14
Our whitetail properties cover 10,000 acres across Kansas deer units 4, 7, 8, and 14. The ground is not all the same, and that is part of what makes the operation work.
Our eastern properties feature rolling hills, open pasture, and cedar thickets. Farther west, the terrain becomes flatter, with river bottoms, farmland, and CRP. The western ground also tends to provide more consistent wind conditions.
Properties range up to 1,200 acres, with multiple smaller parcels spread across the hunting units. Having different types of ground available allows our guides to adjust where hunters sit instead of forcing everyone into the same type of terrain.
Managed Ground and Strategic Stand Placement
Every farm is pre-scouted and baited before the season. We maintain 100 ladder stands and 30 box blinds, along with hang-on stands for archery and brushed-in ground blinds when a different setup makes sense.
Each morning, your guide considers recent scouting information, wind direction, historical data, trail camera information, what you have been seeing during the hunt, and their own experience with the property. You also have a say when discussing where to hunt.
Controlled Hunting Pressure
We keep the number of whitetail hunters limited to 8 to 12 in a week, with 2 to 3 hunters per guide. Across the full season, we take 50 to 70 whitetail hunters.
Keeping pressure controlled gives us more flexibility with our properties and helps maintain natural deer movement. Instead of putting a large number of hunters on the same farms, we can spread hunters across different properties and adjust throughout the week.
Our Whitetail Standard
King Whitetails has a 140-inch minimum for bucks.
We believe hunters should understand the standard before they arrive. A 170-inch deer is not behind every tree, and a 200-inch whitetail is very uncommon. The more realistic expectation is an opportunity at a mature buck in the 140- to 170-inch range, with larger deer possible for hunters willing to pass opportunities and accept the risk that comes with waiting.

These results reflect the quality of deer that can be found on our Kansas properties, but every hunt is different. Weather, deer condition, hunter experience, pressure, drought, disease, and other factors can all affect deer movement and harvest results. The Lodge
When you are not in the field, you will stay at the King Whitetails lodge on five private acres along the Smoky Hill River. The lodge has six bedrooms with two to three beds per room, two full bathrooms, Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, and scent lockers in every room.
The lodge is located 10 to 35 minutes from our hunting properties, keeping the morning and evening drives manageable while giving us access to a wide range of private ground.
Hunters are provided with a continental breakfast, packed lunch, and a home-cooked dinner each day. We also have a walk-in cooler for hanging harvested game, and deer can be cut at the lodge.
What To Bring
Kansas weather can change quickly during deer season, so coming prepared is important. We recommend bringing a good system of base, mid, and outer layers, along with waterproof or Gore-Tex boots.

Hunter Orange Requirements for Kansas Deer Hunting
Kansas requires hunters to wear hunter orange, also known as blaze orange, during firearm deer seasons. The requirements include an orange hat and at least 200 square inches of orange on the upper body.
1. Wear an Orange Hat
Your hat or other headwear must have an exterior that is at least 50% bright hunter orange. The required orange must be visible from all directions.
2. Wear at Least 200 Square Inches of Orange on Your Upper Body
Hunters must wear at least 200 square inches of hunter orange on the upper half of their body, including:
At least 100 square inches visible from the front.
At least 100 square inches visible from the back.
3. Camouflage Is Allowed
Hunter camouflage is permitted as long as it meets the required orange area and visibility requirements.

What is the minimum buck size?
King Whitetails has a 140-inch minimum for bucks. A buck scoring 130 to 139 inches carries a $500 additional fee, while a buck scoring under 130 inches carries a $1,500 additional fee.
How many days is a Kansas whitetail hunt?
Our archery hunt is 6 full hunting days, Sunday through Friday. The rifle hunt is currently 5 full hunting days, and the muzzleloader hunt is currently 5 days. Beginning in 2028, the rifle hunts will change to 7 full hunting days.
