King Whitetails is situated in the heart of the Flint Hills of Kansas. Spring turkey hunts are conducted on over 7500 acres broken up into several different farms, so nothing gets over pressured. Our properties span two different hunting units Two and Three. These units have extremely high populations of turkey and offer some of the highest success rates in Kansas. Our success rates are so high here at King Whitetails for Spring turkey hunts that if a hunter does leave without a harvested turkey, it is not because they did not see turkeys, it is going to be because they missed. Everyone leaves with less ammunition than they came with. These units hold both eastern subspecies and Rio subspecies of turkeys which really makes us so unique. Our western properties have purebred Rio subspecies and on our eastern farms we have pure eastern turkey and then we also have eastern Rio hybrids throughout. This is a great place to check off that Turkey Grand Slam.
How we produce such high success rates starts with preseason scouting to produce a good game plan on where the turkeys are roosting, moving, and feeding. Then we have pre baited hunting blind locations set up on most of our farms. If the Spring turkey hunting starts off a little slow, we will implement a run and gun style turkey hunt, but only when necessary so we can keep the pressure down. We can accommodate any type of hunter from novice to the most experienced. On average we only reserve around 20 Spring turkey hunters per year, which is extremely low pressure for the land that we offer Spring hunts on, and it makes sure we have a consistent healthy turkey population each year.
All-inclusive one-on-one fully guided Spring turkey hunts in Kansas are three-days and include meals, private lodging, transportation to and from the locations along with a guide for added success. Your Kansas Spring turkey hunt typically starts with being up before dawn and out first thing before it gets light and stay out until mid to late morning and then back out in the afternoon. If you are a hardcore turkey hunter and wish to hunt all day you certainly can here in Kansas. This is your hunt your way so let us know what you want, and we will do our best to make it happen.
The King Whitetails turkey hunting lodge sits on ten expansive acres in a private secluded area along on the outside of Milford Lake. A very peaceful and quiet location for relaxation. There are three private bedrooms, four private full bathrooms with showers, and a big kitchen. Includes a nice living room area for watching TV after your hunt. Our turkey hunting lodge is between 10 to 50 minutes from all our hunting properties.
Nonresident Spring turkey hunters in the state of Kansas are required to put in an application for the draw during the application period. The draw period is typically from the middle of January to the middle of February. Sometime at the end of the application period, within 30 days, you get your results, either awarded a tag or awarded a point for next year’s drawing. Nonresident hunters are issued one tag per hunter in Kansas.
To make things easy for any clients that book with King Whitetails, we personally assist you on a one-on-one basis to help with your application for your tags at no additional cost to you. How this works is after you reserve your hunt here at king Whitetails and during the application period, we will contact you to walk you through a step-by-step application process to ensure everything is correctly filled out and make sure you are putting in for the proper units.
We require a 50% deposit which is due upon reserving your Spring turkey hunting dates. In the event you do not draw a tag for our units you will receive a preference point through the Kansas department of natural resources to be used on next year’s application to heighten the likely hood of a successful full draw. If you are not drawn, King Whitetails will roll over your deposit and hunt dates to the following year where you will see a 99% success rate for your application.
Kansas Spring turkey hunting dates are mid-April through mid-May. We will hunt two groups per week, generally three hunters per group and all hunts will be three days and on different farms so not to over pressure.
