Kansas Spring Turkey Hunts
King Whitetails is situated in the heart of the Flint Hills of Kansas, where we hunt spring turkeys across more than 10,000 acres broken into several different private farms. Our properties span Kansas Units 2 and 3 and give us room to move hunters rather than putting too much pressure on the same ground.
Spring turkey hunts run from mid-April through mid-May. We generally schedule two groups per week, with around three hunters per group, while keeping our overall spring turkey bookings to around 20 hunters per year. Every hunt is three days.
100% Spring Turkey Success Rate in 2026
That kind of result speaks for itself.
Our hunting properties in Turkey Units 2 and 3 offer excellent turkey hunting opportunities.
We hunt this ground every season, know the properties and where the birds are roosting, and keep bookings limited so hunters can enjoy their experience without competing with other King Whitetails clients.
A Kansas Turkey Hunt With Room to Hunt
The size and layout of our turkey ground is a major part of the experience. Our 10,000 acres are spread across multiple farms in Units 2 and 3, so a slow morning on one property does not mean sitting there all day. We have different ground to work with and can adjust the plan as the birds change.
Units 2 and 3 have extremely high turkey populations and offer some of the highest success rates in Kansas. We achieved a 100% success rate in 2026. If a hunter leaves King Whitetails without a harvested turkey, it is not because they did not see turkeys. Everyone leaves with less ammunition than they came with.

Rio Grande, Eastern and Hybrid Turkeys
One of the things that makes our Kansas turkey hunting especially interesting is the mix of subspecies across our ground. Our western properties hold purebred Rio Grande turkeys. Our eastern farms hold pure Eastern turkeys, with Eastern, and Rio Grande hybrids found throughout.
That combination gives hunters an opportunity to pursue different subspecies without changing outfits. For hunters working toward the Turkey Grand Slam, it can also make a Kansas spring hunt an opportunity to check another bird off the list.

How We Prepare Before You Arrive
High success starts well before opening morning. Our preseason scouting focuses on where the turkeys are roosting, where they are feeding, and how they are moving between those areas. We use that information to build a game plan before hunters arrive.
Most of our farms have pre-baited hunting blind locations already set up. This gives us proven places to start the hunt without creating unnecessary pressure on the birds.

Blinds, Decoys, and Run-and-Gun Hunting
Turkey hunts typically start in a blind close to a roost site. We use decoys most of the time, and the guide handles the calling. Hunters are welcome to call if they want to be involved.
After roughly two hours of the morning hunt, the guide may begin making moves and running and gunning depending on the client's ability and preference. We use that approach selectively. If the birds are using the ground well, there is no reason to move just for the sake of moving.
Blind sitting all day is also permissible. We can accommodate novice hunters as well as experienced turkey hunters and adjust the approach around the hunter, the property, and the birds.

Three Days in the Field
A typical turkey day starts before dawn, with hunters out before the birds leave the roost. The morning hunt usually continues through mid- to late morning before returning to the lodge. Hunters can head back out in the afternoon, and all-day hunting is allowed.
The guides use what happened during the morning to shape the afternoon plan. If a bird showed a pattern, we can work it again. If conditions change, we have other farms and setups available.

Turkey Hunt Options
You can choose the level of support that fits the way you like to hunt. Fully guided, semi-guided, and DIY options are available. Guided hunts can be arranged 1-on-1 or 2-on-1, and groups can include up to 6 hunters.
All spring turkey hunts are three days. 2028 turkey pricing is still to be determined.

Your Kansas Turkey Draw
Because access to these Kansas turkey units depends on drawing the appropriate tag, we help hunters through the application process one-on-one at no additional charge.
A 50% deposit is due upon reserving your spring turkey hunting dates. If you do not draw a tag for our units, you will receive a preference point through the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks to use on next year's application, increasing the likelihood of a successful full draw.
If you are not drawn, King Whitetails will roll your deposit and hunt dates over to the following year. Based on the current booking process, we expect a 99% success rate for your application the following year.
